Travel

The nearest airports are Zurich (ZRH), Basel (BSL) and Geneva (GVA). From the airports at Zurich (approx. 1 hour) and Geneva (approx. 3 hours) there is a direct train every hour to Lucerne.

By Plane

To travel to Lucerne you should fly either to Zurich (recommended) or to Basel and then take the train. The International Airports of Zurich and Geneva have regular scheduled flights to and from all main European destinations as well as major world cities.

By Train From Zurich Airport

You can get to Lucerne by train from the train station within the airport, without changing trains. The trip from Zurich Airport to Lucerne station takes approximately 75 minutes and the price for the train ticket is CHF 30.- (single journey, 2nd class, full price). By Train From Basel Airport

There is no trains station at Basel Euroairport. You have to travel to Basle Central Train Station (Basel SBB) with the Bus No. 50 (Timetable for the Bus Connection). From Basel Central Train Station (Basel SBB) you travel by train to Lucerne in about 120 minutes and the price for the train ticket is CHF 30.- (single journey, 2nd class, full price) . By Train From Geneva Airport

You cab get to Horw by train from the train station within the airport. The trip from Zurich Airport to Lucerne station takes approximately 180 minutes and the price for the train ticket is CHF 84.- (single journey, 2nd class, full price). By car

Switzerland has an excellent network of highways. Lucerne is at the heart of Switzerland. You may rent a car at the airport or at any train station as well as in all major cities. Please note that parking spaces at the University are limited.
